Open Minds :: Open Doors Initiative
An innovative campaign designed to persuade landlords and brokers to shift their behavior so they become more open to renting to individuals with histories of justice involvement. Through this initiative, Policy Ground, in partnership with the NYC Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, is putting together a series of “network and learn” events for landlords and brokers in NYC to learn about opportunities to renting to individuals with justice involvement, and to debunk myths and challenge “ossified beliefs.” The events combine compelling narrative storytelling with information-based segments. The model draws on behavioral science approaches, latest research on the justice-involved population, and storytelling and ethnography, to change minds and open doors. The initiative is funded by Enterprise Community Partners through its Enterprise Funders – Robin Hood Foundation and Trinity Church Wall Street Philanthropies.
